After graduating from the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Houston, Texas, Stinson enrolled at the Sarofim School of Arts at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. There, he was an active member of the musical community. While a student, Stinson performed in the University Jazz Band and the Classical Guitar Ensemble; cofounded and directed the Composer’s Collective; and was awarded multiple King Creativity Fund grants for projects in the Fine Arts. After earning his Bachelors of Music with a focus on Music Theory and Composition in 2013, Stinson has made Austin home.
Stinson teaches private music lessons for beginners and advanced students of all ages from Austin as far as Georgetown. He strives not only to educate his students technically, but also to assist them to achieve their goal of creative expression and to share in the enjoyment of their accomplishments. Stinson’s teaching philosophy stems from his own education in the arts; the consideration he takes towards his students’ aptitudes and attitudes; by creating a learning environment that will best suit each student’s needs and expectations.
When he is not teaching, Stinson performs solo and in ensembles throughout the city, and has premiered new works at the New Media Art and Sound Summit. He is a founding member of the Organic Helicopter organization which blends art and science into participatory works.
Today, Stinson teaches clarinet and piano lessons at the Northwest School of Music for superior drums, piano, voice, violin and guitar lessons in in Austin, Cedar Park and Leander, Texas.Back to Classes & Teachers>
