About Julie Adams

Julie began formal music study at age 6, piano lessons at age 7, cello and violin at age 11, and voice at age 16. Julie performed regularly in orchestra and choir throughout middle and high school, earned a Bachelor of Instrumental & Vocal Music Education from Oklahoma City University. During college she studied piano with Ernestine Scott, cello with Dan Watters and voice with Emogene Collins. Graduate studies followed at both the University of Tulsa and The University of Texas at Austin, studying with Kari Caldwell and Phyllis Young respectively.

Julie has taught music in the public schools in Oklahoma and Texas, and directed both orchestral and vocal ensembles in elementary and middle schools. She has been teaching individual lessons on Piano, Cello, Violin, Viola and Voice, as well as, beginning Guitar and Ukulele for many years. Her teaching style is encouraging and supportive while also maintaining high expectations of her students. She believes music study can be both challenging and fun.

Julie is also a piano accompanist for choir and an organist at Faith Lutheran Church in Austin, Texas, and currently a member of the National Federation of Music Clubs and the Suzuki Association of the Americas.
