About Hope Holder

As a pianist, Hope Holder has been capturing the hearts of music lovers since 1990. The combination of her fiery enthusiasm on the keyboard and elegant stage presence make her performances as pleasing to the eye as they are to the ear. Hope’s enthusiasm also carries over to her teaching style so that her students are excited too.

Born and raised in Utah, Hope is admired for her performances in a variety of venues including The University of Utah Honors Recitals, The Gala Celebration for the opening of Gardner Hall at the University of Utah, Utah State University Piano Area Concerts and Solo Recitals, performances at Abravanell Hall, and the “Recitals About Town” performance series in conjunction with the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition.

Hope has been given recognition and awards in competitions such as the University of Utah Summer Arts, the Utah Symphony Guild Competition, the Kawai American Piano Competition, the Arlette Day Piano Competition, and the Weber State College Piano Festival. Over the years Hope has had the privilege of studying with many great teachers such as Dr. Marjorie Janove, Professor Gary Amano, and Dr. Susan Duehlmeier. She has also had the opportunity to perform for renowned artists such as Maestro Josef Silverstein and Dr. Doug Humphreys.

While working to complete her Bachelors in Piano Performance at Utah State University, Hope Holder was on the staff of the USU Youth Conservatory and performed as the symphony pianist during the 1992 and 1993 Spring Seasons. In 1998 Hope was awarded a Teaching Assistantship to teach group piano lessons while working to complete a Masters in Piano Performance at the University of Utah. In 2000, Hope worked as an Assistant for Dr. Susan Duehlmeier in conjunction with the University of Utah Music Circle. Hope completed her studies at the U of U in 2001 graduating as a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.

A revered teacher of over 30 years, Hope was awarded one of two prizes for Outstanding Student Teacher of the Year in the state of Utah in 1999. Her students have received recognition as outstanding performers in competitions and festivals including the UMTA Piano Competition, Piano Quest, Encore Solo and Concerto Festivals, the Reflections Music Composition Contest, the UMTA Performance Evaluations, the BYU Piano Festival, the Utah State Fair, and the U of U Summer Arts Competition. As an Associate Instructor in the Music Department at Westminster College for 14 years Hope enjoyed teaching group piano, private lessons, and performing in the Westminster Faculty Collage. Hope’s college students performed regularly in the Music Department Student Concerts.

Hope Holder is co-creator of Piano Quest, she has served as Local Chair and State Chair for the UMTA Performance Evaluations. A talented composer, students throughout the country have enjoyed playing Hope’s original compositions published by Alfred Publishing. Hope is also a licensed Kindermusik instructor.

Today, Hope continues to teach piano lessons at the Northwest School of Music for superior music lessons by University trained instructors for guitar lessons, piano lessons, voice lessons, drums, violin, ukulele, flute, clarinet, bass in Austin, Cedar Park, Texas.
