Q Do you accept total
beginners?
Yes, we teach all levels from beginners
to near professional musicians. Complete beginners are welcome.
Q How often will I come
for a lesson?
Most students come once a week, for a 30-minute
private lesson. 45-minute and 60-minute weekly lessons are
also available for students who desire longer lessons. For
most students, one
30-minute lesson per week is adequate if the student comes
to his or her lesson prepared.
Q What ages do you teach?
Minimum age requirements are set by the
individual teacher. Most of our teachers accept students at
7 years of age and older. If you have a child younger than
7, we now refer students to a wonderful and unique program
called Kindermusik.
Q What days/hours do you
teach?
Most lessons
occur between the hours of 2:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Monday
through Friday.
Q What styles of music
can you teach?
Our teachers come from a wide variety
of different musical backgrounds. If you are an intermediate-advanced
student that desires to learn a specific style, please let
us know. We can direct you to the teacher best suited to your
stylistic preferences. All teachers are qualified to teach
a well rounded curriculum of basic music to beginners.
Q Where do the lessons
take place?
Lessons are taught in the studios at the
Pfluger-Rock School Of Music and Northwest School of Music.
Pfluger-Rock is located at 100 West Pflugerville Parkway (formerly
Pflugerville Loop) suite 102. We’re one block east of
Heatherwilde Blvd. next door to Pflugerville Animal Hospital
at Wilke Ridge Lane, across the street from Hill Country Bible
Church. Northwest School of Music is located at 8863 Anderson
Mill Road near Broadmeade/Turtle Rock. It is in front of Live
Oak Elementary and Deer Park Middle School. For maps to the
locations, click here.
Q
Are instruments provided?
Both of our schools have acoustic pianos, full drum sets and amplifiers for use during lessons. We do NOT provide instruments for students to take home. Call us for recomendations of local retailers if you're shopping for an instrument.
Check out Rock
n’ Roll Rentals if you don’t have an instrument
yet and you'd like to rent one.
Q How much do lessons
cost?
Tuition is as follows:
$94 per month for 30-minute private lessons,
taken once a week. (Most students take 30 minute lessons)
$141 per month for 45-minute private
lessons, taken once a week.
$188 per month for 60-minute private lessons,
taken once a week.
$188 per month for two family members,
each taking weekly
30-minute private lessons.
Tuition is due at the first lesson
of each month. If your first lesson falls in the middle of
the month, we will adjust the fee for the first month to reflect
only the lessons you actually receive. Regardless
of the day on which the student’s lesson falls, the
student will sometimes receive five lessons rather than four,
depending on how many days there are in that month. Some schools
increase tuition for months that have an extra lesson. At
our schools, the fifth lesson is always FREE.
Q What forms
of payment do you accept?
Tuition is drafted electronically, once a month
through your checking account or through Visa/Master card. There is no
contract using this method, and you are free to discontinue
lessons at any time. However, when you wish to stop lessons, you'll need to notify our front desk staff by the
15th of the month to discontinue charges for subsequent months. Please call our schools if you have any questions about our payment methods. We'll be happy to talk to you about how we collect tuition.

Q Is there a registration
or enrollment fee?
No, we do not charge an enrollment fee,
administration fee, or office fee.
Q Will I need a book?
Some teachers prepare material for students
while others use method books. Your teacher will let you know
at your lesson.
Q How do I set up a lesson
time?
Please call our Pflugerville location at
989-2425 or our Northwest Austin location at 258-9785. If
you get our voice mail, please leave a message and your call
will be returned promptly. Please let us know which instrument
you want to learn how to play and the age of the student if
the student is a child. The best time to call is during the
afternoon. Because we have two locations, we are unable to answer lesson availability questions via email. Please call whichever location is most convenient for you.
Q What are the
qualifications of teachers?
Each of the teachers that work at Pfluger-Rock
School of Music and Northwest School of Music was selected
based on education, performance credentials and teaching experience.
Our teachers come from diverse musical backgrounds. Whenever
possible, we try to match new students to the teacher who
will be most appropriate for their needs. Check the Teachers
page for individual teacher bio's.
Q What is your
cancellation policy?
It is very important that each student
understands the cancellation policy. All professional music
teachers must enforce their lesson policies in order to earn
a living. You will be given a written copy of the policy at
your first lesson. The student or parent (where applicable)
will read and sign the policy indicating that he or she understands
our cancellation policy. Lesson slots are assigned to new
students on a first come first serve basis. Your lesson time
slot is reserved for you and ONLY you. Please recognize that
when you miss a lesson, the teacher precludes the possibility
of earning income (from another student) during your lesson
time because it was specifically reserved for you. Unlike
a hair salon, music teachers do not
get "walk-ins".
If you cannot attend one of your lessons,
please call the school as soon as possible. Students
are permitted to reschedule a missed lesson with a minimum of 24 hours
notice. Missed
lessons that are not canceled in advance (24 hours minimum
notice) are forfeited. Please limit cancellations to
a maximum of one per month. If you must miss several consecutive
lessons due to a vacation etc., let us know and
we can try to make arrangements to work around your schedule.
Students who cancel a lesson with the requisite
24 hour notice are eligible for a "make up" lesson (if desired)
at another time mutually convenient to the student and teacher.
Canceled lessons may NOT be "credited"
to the next month in order to reduce the monthly lesson fee
for a subsequent month. A health club/gym does not refund money
back if a member doesn't workout on a particular week. Time
Warner doesn't give it's cable subscribers a rebate if they don't
watch TV on a given night so please, don't ask us to reduce
your monthly lesson fee if you have canceled a lesson in a
prior month.
Occasionally, it may be necessary for the
teacher to cancel a lesson in order to travel to a playing
engagement. Lessons that the teacher cancels however, may
be credited to subsequent months.
